Fantasy Ponytails

In Milan we saw the reinvention of the ponytail, or should we say the modernization, as there was a distinct futuristic air to each incarnation. From sky high placement at Sportmax, and long plaits that swung across models backs at Max Mara, to glossy luxe ponytails with face framing tendrils at Calcaterra – it’s clear the pony will be an A/W staple.

In a Knot

New York had a thing for knots this season, and there were no limits on the ways in which hair was twisted and turned. At Brandon Maxwell, models rocked a soft chic low multi-twisted chignon, while at Dion Lee it was all about the tough-girl slicked back tight knot. We also saw a romantic clasp-like take at Jonathan Simkhai, proving there’s a knot for every occasion and mood.

Vintage Curls

Hair at the London shows is always experimental and a little less easy to wear in the real world, but that’s half the fun. Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, resurrected the 1920’s kiss curl, but gave these flat on the forehead curls a raw natural imperfect, perfect vibe. Not just for fancy dress parties - but definitely more an evening look - these cute curls look uber cool, promise.

Shine On

The glass hair trend isn’t going anywhere if the shows at Paris Fashion Week are anything to go by. At Maison Margiela hair was ultra shiny and clear plastic was used as a head band to amp up the shine factor even more. At Mugler hair was brushed back and given a reflective wet look, making the idea of dull winter hair inconceivable.
