Colour Chameleon – transition your tresses into the new season

By Kerluxe October 23, 2018

Colour is emotive, it can help us express ourselves, and it can also change our mood. But the summer sun can take its toll on our hair, especially its colour. Often times the shade you left the salon with, and loved, at the beginning of the summer is not the shade you’re left with come autumn. Thankfully, when it comes to transitioning between the seasons, conditioning products and shade adjustments will give you a mane to be proud of.

Blonds…

If you’ve been having fun in the sun, you’ll have noticed how chlorine, salt and UV rays have taken a toll on your mane – not to mention it will most likely be far lighter. If you’re looking to stay blonde, use a clarifying shampoo such as the Crystalisse shampoo, to remove build-up that can make super light hair dull. Ask your colourist to use a golden gloss to warm up your colour and then invest in a shine boosting serum such as the Caviar4 Hair Serum Elixir, to seal damaged cuticles.

Brunettes…

Light brown hair can often look mousey and flat after sun exposure, so the trick is to give your tresses an element of richness and warmth when transitioning into autumn/winter. Add ribbons of warmer, richer browns placed within the hair and not on the top layer of your mane. This adds dimension but doesn’t leave you needing to go to the salon every 6 weeks to touch up your roots. While darker brown shades, look great with added low lights or with a cool toned gloss and subtle violet tones weaved into the hair. To maintain these looks, the colour protecting shampoo and conditioner from the Luminage collection is key.

Red heads…

Depth at the root of the hair makes red hair pop, but UV rays tend to lighten roots quickly. Add a darker tone to your roots, leaving the mid-lengths and ends so they remain light. Be sure to use a lipid rich cream such as Multi-tasking 360 Hair Styling Cream to recondition and smooth cuticles.

Ebony hues…

Black works all year round, and looks it’s best when it’s in a healthy condition. So add a hydrating and reparative mask such as Aquavol hair mask to your arsenal. It will add moisture to your locks, strengthen and restore shine.
