TREND REPORT: LFW

By Kerluxe September 24, 2018

Always a little more daring, London didn’t disappoint when it came to covetable hair styles for S/S19.

Brilliant Braids

The popularity of braids sees no signs of abating. Textured nomadic varieties that were styled into a loop and looked ever so slightly weathered were seen at Bora Aksu. At Erdem, hair was straight, smooth and neatly plaited from the ear downwards around both sides of the head, and intertwined at the nape of the neck. While at Fydor Golan, a number of models sported cornrows of varying widths, for a cool sporty vibe.

Tip…

Braids although pretty can cause splitting, weakness, and follicle damage - especially if you opt for a tighter style. Just like most things in life if you practice moderation all should be fine, so resist the urge to wear braids daily and be sure to use a nourishing and repairing hair mask like the Caviar4 Hair Mask, once a week.

Fringe Benefits

While not the easiest style to wear, especially during hot and sticky summers, there is no denying that the fringe in all its incarnations makes for a look that stands out from the crowd. There truly is a fringe type for all face shapes and hair types. From the matt, choppy ultra short versions sported by models at Peter Pilotto, and the glossy, brow sweeping ones seen at Ashley Williams, to the tousled interpretations at Fashion East - that proved curly girls can rock fringes too – you won’t find it difficult to choose the best one for you.

Tip…

Heavy conditioners can weigh down your fringe and leave it looking lank and lackluster. However, forgoing this step won’t be beneficial to your hair in the long run, so use a lightweight yet ultra hydrating option such as the Aquavol Conditioner instead. If the rest of your mane needs added TLC, use a more nourishing formula on your mid-lengths to ends.

Haberdashery Habits

Decidedly girly bows descended down a number of LFW runways. With a childlike air these nostalgic looks were reminiscent of many a girls’ childhood styling repertoire. What cemented them into the adult arena were the quirky modern undertones. Blunt cut ponytails accented with large contrasting coloured bows at Emilia Wickstead, and ultra short, centre parted bobs, adorned with glittery ribbons that were tied into bows and accompanied by a mature bold red lip at Ryan LO, will have you raiding your ribbon draw well before summer.

Tip…

Ribbons make for the best hair accessory, especially the silky type, as these are snag free and uber gentle. However, if you opt for something more textured, there will undoubtedly be a little friction, so be sure to coat your tresses in the Multi-tasking360 Hair Styling Cream, as the ceramides present help protect and smooth the hair.

Punk Power

The Brits are synonymous with punk, so it makes sense that if anyone would rock a punk vibe this month, it would be a designer showing at LFW. The hair at Molly Goddard brought back wearable 90’s punk. Those cute mini spiky buns many of us rocked back in the day made an appearance as did faux mohawks – reminding us to take risks and have fun with our hair.

Tip…

Styles that defy gravity and need a helping hand from sprays, waxes and pomades to stay in place need to be washed out meticulously. Product build-up can have an affect on the scalp, and an unhealthy scalp can hinder hair growth. To give your scalp a helping hand apply the Luminage Hair Filling Treatment, onto clean towel dried hair as this supports the rebalancing of the scalps’ PH.
